Powder Paint: Artist Duo Customizes a MINI Countryman on the Piste
(firmenpresse) - LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwire) -- 03/22/13 -- Lukas Goller and Tobias "Ludschi" Ludescher AKA PirateArtCrew took on the challenge to customize a MINI Countryman in Laax, Switzerland, at the Burton Open European Snowboarding Championships.
Burton and MINI go big
The Burton Open European Championships are one of the biggest dates in the freestyle snowboarding calendar. All of the big International riders flocked to Laax to compete for the freestyle crown.
To keep borders and fans focused between events, MINI called on top artist duo PirateArtCrew to use a MINI Countryman - already a work of art when it comes to leading a - as part of a unique snow installation.
PirateArtCrew made a name for themselves after Pirate Movie Production - the leading name in epic snowboarding films - asked them to join their ranks. The crew decided to project the gnarliest footage from the championships onto the MINI alongside natural scenes of the piste. The thought process behind the "RE:LAAX - the MINI Countryman Perspective" installation can now be viewed in Laax and the MINI itself was displayed in a huge glass container by Cafe NoName at the mountain station.
Built for the slopes
In the competition, Ayumu Hirano from Japan was crowned winner of the men's event while American rider Arielle Gold took the women's title. Another champion at home on the hills is the MINI Countryman.
Adverse weather conditions may have forced the BEO organisers to cancel some of their slopestyle events but there was nothing to hold back the Countryman. Thrill-seekers could sign up for a test run at the MINI drive centers in a booth at Crap Sogn Gion or at the rockresort.
They had some . For example, hardened attendees could even brave the MINI Cabrio challenge. That's right, top down adventures in the snow! With temperatures falling to -14C, this adrenaline-fuelled fun was not for the faint-hearted.
