Mitacs Thanks Government of Canada for $13M Budget Investment to Build a Globally-Competitive Workforce

(firmenpresse) - VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwire) -- 03/21/13 -- Mitacs commends the Government of Canada for new investments in skills training including $13M over two years for Mitacs Globalink, an international internship program.

This new funding will enable an expansion of Mitacs Globalink and provide international research internships in countries around the world to Canadian undergraduate students.

"For Canada to be a globally-competitive country, we must ensure that up-and-coming generations have a deep understanding of international research and innovation," said Dr. Arvind Gupta, CEO & Scientific Director of Mitacs. "Providing our students with international experience now will lead to the creation of global innovation networks and cutting-edge companies in the future."

Mitacs Globalink was established in 2009 to bring top, international undergraduate students for summer research internships at universities across the country. Globalink aims to brand Canada as a top research and education destination while creating pathways for the best and brightest innovators and entrepreneurs to come to Canada.
