Recently in February, the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) board voted unanimously to start a process that could enable seven public safety jurisdictions in the U.S to resume LTE network deployments they were forced to halt last spring. The announcement is expected to give a major boost to the Public safety LTE ecosystem in the U.S where the Harris County is already operating its private LTE network.
The Middle East, particularly the GCC region, has already seen public safety LTE contract awards in both Qatar and Oman, and further RFPs are expected in both the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Over the next four years, the Middle East region will see private LTE base station shipments worth nearly $1 Billion.
