Their Excellencies to Attend the 2013 ISU World Figure Skating Championships
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 03/14/13 -- Their Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, and Mrs. Sharon Johnston will attend the 2013 ISU World Figure Skating Championships® in London, Ontario, on Saturday, March 16, 2013.
As patrons of this championship event, Their Excellencies will cheer on the world's best figure skaters, but especially our Canadian athletes performing in the Ice Dance Competition at the Budweiser Gardens at 4 p.m. They will also participate in the victory ceremonies at 5:50 p.m.
Earlier in the day, at 2 p.m., His Excellency will present the Governor General's Caring Canadian Award to four recipients for their involvement in the skating community. The ceremony will take place at the Budweiser Gardens' OC Lounge. The list of recipients and their citations are included below.

Created in 1995, the Governor General's Caring Canadian Award recognizes living Canadians and permanent residents who have made a significant, sustained, unpaid contribution to their community, in Canada or abroad.
