Joe Flacco Selected as the Hickok Belt(TM) Award Winner for February 2013
(firmenpresse) - ROCHESTER, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 03/14/13 -- Joe Flacco of the Baltimore Ravens has been selected as the Hickok Belt Award winner for the month of February 2013. Voting was conducted by a select panel of members of the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA). Flacco was chosen after leading the Ravens to a Super Bowl victory over the San Francisco 49ers on February 3. In the game, which marked his first Super Bowl appearance, Flacco completed 22 of 33 passing attempts for 287 yards and 3 TDs. His performance not only helped the Ravens' claim the Lombardi Trophy, but it also earned Flacco the Super Bowl MVP.
Other finalists for the month of February, in order of how the NSSA voters ranked them, were: LeBron James (basketball), Jimmie Johnson (auto racing), Danica Patrick (auto racing), Brandt Snedeker (golf), Carmelo Anthony (basketball), Tyson Chandler (basketball), Bernard Legat (track & field), Jenn Suhr (track & field) and Jason Belmonte (bowling).
Joe Flacco's selection as the Hickok Belt Award winner for February 2013 recognizes him as "the best of the best" in professional sports for the month and makes him the second candidate eligible to receive the 2013 overall award, joining January 2013 winner Colin Kaepernick.
