Minister Oliver Appoints Directors to AECL Board
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 03/13/13 -- The Honourable Joe Oliver, Canada's Minister of Natural Resources, announced today the appointment of Gregory Josey and Serge Dupont as Directors of the Board of Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL) until December 31, 2014.
"I am pleased that Gregory Josey and Serge Dupont will be working as Board Directors of AECL," said Minister Oliver. "Their leadership skills, experience and expertise will help the Board fulfil AECL's mandate and move this organization through the challenges it faces during restructuring."
These appointments follow the February 28 announcement of the second phase of AECL restructuring that will launch a competitive procurement process for private sector management and operation of the AECL Laboratories. The new model for the Laboratories will bring private sector rigour and efficiencies to the management of the Laboratories with the goal of creating commercial opportunity and reducing the financial cost and risk for Canadian taxpayers.
Gregory Josey possesses considerable executive leadership and financial expertise, having served for 11 years as Chief Financial Officer in multiple organizations and more than 27 years in the field of health care. Mr. Dupont, as Deputy Minister of Natural Resources Canada, brings in-depth knowledge of government operations and priorities to the Board that will help support and inform the restructuring process.
