Smart Lunches Expands Healthy and Convenient Meal Service to Schools in Western Massachusetts

The company partners with schools, daycare centers and camps to offer children a variety of healthy, fun, kid-friendly meals while providing parents great convenience. In just its second year of operation, it has experienced fast growth, recently extending its network to over 100 partner schools, daycares and camps across the North to the South Shores, and is ready to add Pioneer Valley charter partners The Hartsbrook School and Academy Hill School.

The Hartsbrook School in Hadley, MA is one of Smart Lunches' first partner schools in Western Massachusetts and its third Waldorf school, joining Cape Ann Waldorf School in Beverly and Waldorf High School of Massachusetts Bay in Belmont. The creative arts and life skills are fundamentals of the Waldorf philosophy. "At Hartsbrook we have a farm-to-table program in the high school curriculum, and we want to ensure that children of all ages eat fresh, nutritious meals at lunchtime every day. When we heard all the great things about Smart Lunches from our colleagues at Cape Ann it was clear that we should partner with them," said Louise Spear, Principal.
Academy Hill School, located in Springfield, MA, is the other inaugural school for Smart Lunches in this region. "With over 100 students from kindergarten through 8th grade, coming from 21 communities in the Pioneer Valley and Connecticut, we were feeling the pains of not having a lunch solution for our busy families, Smart Lunches' expansion couldn't have come at a better time," said Liz Gibbons, Director of Finance. The two schools have been working with Smart Lunches' Regional Lunch Lady Pamela Wicinas, based in Northampton, to finalize details for each school's launch.
