OFAH to Celebrate 85th Annual Fish and Wildlife Conference

Dynamic speakers and engaging workshops part of action packed event

(firmenpresse) - PETERBOROUGH, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 03/11/13 -- Hundreds of outdoor enthusiasts from across the province are gathering in Mississauga this week for the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters' (OFAH) 85th Annual General Meeting and Fish & Wildlife Conference. While attendees can look forward to the many great features conference is known for, this milestone year offers new and exciting opportunities for everyone involved. New to Saturday's agenda are three, interactive workshops on falconry, coyote and coyote hunting tactics and trapping; all delivered by experts in the field.

The annual OFAH conference runs from Thursday, March 14 through Saturday, March 16 at the Delta Meadowvale Resort and Conference Centre in Mississauga. At Thursday evening's President's Reception, Joe Dickson, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Natural Resources and Tim Hudak, Leader of the Official Opposition, will address delegates. Friday afternoon will feature Andrea Horwath, Leader of the New Democratic Party.

Friday's presentations will once again be live streamed via . David O'Toole, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources will give a morning presentation to members and announce the Ministry of Natural Resources Junior Conservation Award. OFAH members are also invited to email questions for the Minister's Question and Answer period to . Throughout the day, speakers will cover topics of interest and concern to Ontario's anglers and hunters, including the sustainability of Ontario's commercial fisheries, hunting and fishing economics, and the Williams Treaty. The discussions continue Saturday, with focus on the MNR Transformation Plan, Algonquin Land Claim, and federal protocol on chronic wasting disease.

The three-day event wraps up with the Conservation Awards banquet Saturday evening, at which the Honorable Peter Kent, Minister of the Environment, will deliver the keynote address.
