(firmenpresse) - PALOS VERDES, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 03/07/13 -- For the Grand Re-Opening of the Palos Verdes Art Center, the California Art Club will present in the galleries of the new Beverly G. Alpay Center for Arts Education from March 24 to May 5.
An opening reception with the artists will be held on Saturday, March 23, from 6 to 8 p.m.
will be presented in three parts: Preserving the Environment Today, a display spotlighting the works of Signature Artist Members, who are raising their paintbrushes to support efforts to protect treasured natural resources; Historic California Plein Air Paintings, artwork created by early Club members; and Local Perspective, stunning landscapes that celebrate the beauty of the peninsula.
"Given our long history of painting the state's scenic vistas 'en plein air' or 'in the open air,' we are excited to have an opportunity to not only display California Art Club work, but also provide educational programs that demonstrate time-honored techniques, as we capture on canvas the beautiful natural setting that surrounds the Palos Verdes Art Center," says Peter Adams, Club President.
Educational programs will include the pre-opening lecture "100 Years of Plein Air Painting in California" by Jean Stern, Director of the Irvine Museum, and a "Paint-Out" on April 19 at the Rancho Palos Verdes City Hall, during which attendees can watch artists at work while enjoying the beautiful views from the site.
