DW Akademie: Workshop targets African filmmakers
(PresseBox) - The One Fine Day Film Workshops, conducted in cooperation with DW Akademie, allow young filmmakers from Africa to tell their own story. Applications for the jointly run workshops in Kenya are now open.
Africa's film industry is attracting increased international interest thanks to the filmmaking project run by ONE FINE DAY FILMS and DW Akademie. "Nairobi Half Life" and "Something Necessary" are among the films produced by participants in the first three workshops, which have drawn attention to many talented African filmmakers. The fourth One Fine Day Workshop is set to take place September 2-13, 2013 in Kenya.
The workshop is closely adapted to the needs of today's African film enthusiasts. Participants will have the opportunity to gain professional filmmaking skills and to exchange ideas and experiences with like-minded people. International filmmakers will train and guide this group of up-and-coming talents, showing them how to make their own films and passing on their cinematographic and artistic know-how. The participants will learn not only how to develop their ideas and put them into practice, but also how to attract attention from African and international film markets.
The young directors, producers, scriptwriters, editors, camera operators and sound engineers taking part in the project will then go on to shoot and produce their own film. The deadline for applications for the workshop is May 1, 2013.
The One Fine Day Film Workshops are a joint project by DW Akademie, ONE FINE DAY FILMS and GINGER INK. The project is supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, the Film und Medienstiftung NRW, the Goethe-Institut Kenya and ARRI Film & TV Services.
