New Reports Suggest That the State of South Carolina Is Expected to Experience Considerable Economic Growth Through the 2013 Season; Founder of Charleston Hospitality Group, Sam Mustafa, Comments on This Emerging Pattern

(firmenpresse) - CHARLESTON, SC -- (Marketwire) -- 02/25/13 -- As the founder of Charleston Hospitality Group, based in Charleston, South Carolina, explains that the southern state has always gained considerable attention in tourism, especially in coastal regions. However, in recent years, the city of Charleston and other popular South Carolina destinations have experienced a considerable decline in tourism, most likely a direct result of the economic crisis experienced a few years prior. Although the year is only in its second month, many professionals and organizations of South Carolina are expecting that the 2013 tourist season will boost the economy to pre-recession levels.

According to a recent from a local CBS affiliate, Duane Parrish, the South Carolina Director of State Tourism "predicts this is the year the $15 billion industry returns to pre-Great Recession levels." With the 2013 season approaching, Parrish explains that the considerable success of 2012 suggests that the state will experience considerable growth in the tourism market this year. Specifically, the article states, "Revenue per available room is a key measure of tourism performance, and it was up almost seven percent statewide last year." In preparation for the three-day Governor's Conference on Tourism and Travel held in Columbia, South Carolina, Parrish explained that South Carolina "outperformed the rest of the nation and other states in the South Atlantic area in tourism... [and] is enjoying a bump in international business."

As a professional focusing on Charleston's hospitality and tourism industry, Sam Mustafa explains that tourism is a very important consideration for the state of South Carolina. In fact, it is often regarded as the largest and most important industry for the state. Mustafa states, "From beaches to historical sights, South Carolina is full of many opportunities that will continue to attract visitors from all over the world. Charleston, in particular, remains one of the most popular destinations as it is rich with excellent shopping, dining and leisure activities."

Although the success of the 2013 tourist season will not become apparent until later, many are already reporting growth in the area. Sam Mustafa confirms that tourist increases are already noticeable, as many retailers and businesses that are part of the Charleston Hospitality Group experienced record-breaking sales over the Martin Luther King Jr. weekend this past January.
