Michael Calyniuk Appointed to the Board of Directors of the Business Development Bank of Canada
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 02/22/13 -- The Honourable Christian Paradis, Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC), today announced the appointment of Mr. Michael Calyniuk to the BDC's Board of Directors.
"Mr. Calyniuk has extensive experience in audit and tax services," said Minister Paradis. "His expertise in these areas will complement the strong knowledge base represented on the Board of the BDC as it continues to support entrepreneurial growth in Canada."
Mr. Calyniuk is a retired partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP where he served 24 years in audit, advisory and various senior global management roles. He is currently Chair of the British Columbia Chapter of the Institute of Corporate Directors, an organization that promotes the effectiveness of Canadian directors and boards. In addition, Mr. Calyniuk is Independent Director, Chair of the Audit Committee, and a member of the Compensation and the Nominating & Corporate Governance Committees for Munduro Capital. Prior to that, he was Chair of the British Columbia Advanced Systems Institute and Co-Chair of the BC Innovation Council.
Mr. Calyniuk is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce, with a major in Information Systems, from the University of British Columbia. He was named a Fellow by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia in 2009.
