Two New Members Appointed to SSHRC
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 02/22/13 -- The Honourable Christian Paradis, Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), today announced the appointments of Dr. Josee Audet and Mr. John A. Baker to SSHRC.
"I am pleased to welcome Dr. Audet and Mr. Baker as new members of the Council," said Minister Paradis. "I know that SSHRC will benefit greatly from their diverse backgrounds and experiences as it helps further university research and training in areas related to social science, culture and economics."
Dr. Audet is currently a professor in the Management Department at Universite Laval. Prior to this, she was a professor in the Departement des sciences de la gestion at the Universite du Quebec a Trois-Rivieres. Dr. Audet is the author and co-author of numerous publications. She received her Ph.D. in Business Administration from Universite Laval (1998), her M.B.A. in Finance from McGill University (1984) and her LL.B. from Universite Laval (1978).
Mr. Baker is the Founder, President and CEO of Desire2Learn Incorporated, a recipient of the Deloitte Technology Fast50 award for four consecutive years from 2006 to 2009. He graduated with an Honours B.A.Sc. in Systems Design Engineering, with First Class Honours and an option in Management Sciences, from the University of Waterloo. In 2009, he received Top 40 Under 40 honours for Waterloo Region. Then in the following year, he received the University of Wa terloo's Faculty of Engineering Young Alumni Achievement Medal.
