Alethia Biotherapeutics Announces Issuance of a Japanese Patent for Monoclonal Antibodies Targeting Siglec-15
(firmenpresse) - MONTREAL, QUEBEC -- (Marketwire) -- 02/19/13 -- Alethia Biotherapeutics Inc., a privately held biotechnology company focusing on the development of therapeutic monoclonal antibodies, announced today that the Company has been granted its first Japanese patent related to Siglec-15 entitled "Polynucleotides and Polypeptide Sequences Involved in the Process of Bone Remodeling" (Patent No. 5173838). This patent covers monoclonal antibodies that target Siglec-15 as "composition of matter" and the use of these antibodies for modulating osteoclast differentiation and for treating bone resorption. Alethia has demonstrated that Siglec-15 is an important regulator of osteoclast differentiation and function. The Company's bone anti-resorptive program was purposefully designed to develop a new generation of therapies that decrease osteoclast activity while maintaining bone formation.
