Use of Fire-Retardant Chemicals Debated in ABA Panel
(firmenpresse) - CHICAGO, IL -- (Marketwire) -- 02/11/13 -- Supporters of the use of chemical fire retardants in consumer products face off against longtime advocates of their regulation or elimination in a two-hour afternoon panel, Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at the Washington Court Hotel in Washington, DC. The panel, presented by the American Burn Association at its annual National Leadership Conference, invites scientists, representatives from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission and Underwriters Laboratories to debate the issue of "Chemical Fire Retardants: Are They Safe and Effective?"
Panelists include: Dr. Arlene Blum, Green Science Policy Institute and Visiting Scholar at UC Berkeley; Gordon Nelson, PhD, Professor of Chemistry at the Florida Institute of Technology; Donald Lucas, PhD from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the School of Public Health at UC Berkeley; Gus Schaefer, Senior Vice-President and Public Safety Officer at Underwriters Laboratory; and Christopher Day, Esq., US Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The American Burn Association is dedicated to improving the lives of everyone affected by burn injury through patient care, education, research and advocacy.
