Madeleine K. Albright to Receive World Learning's Highest Award
(firmenpresse) - WASHINGTON, DC -- (Marketwire) -- 01/29/13 -- World Learning, an international nonprofit organization that strives to create the next generation of leaders through education, exchange, and development, will present its Distinguished Global Citizen Achievement Award to Former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine K. Albright on Wednesday, February 6, 2013.
World Learning, which has headquarters in Washington, DC and Brattleboro, VT, celebrates 80 years of international education and development this year. The Distinguished Global Citizen Achievement Award is given annually to recognize individuals who:
have a record of outstanding service in their chosen international careers or avocations;
embody and promote the values of World Learning;
demonstrate originality and creativity in their endeavors to address global challenges;
promote international understanding and cooperation among diverse stakeholders.
"Dr. Albright personifies the ethos of a World Learning education: intellectually committed, culturally aware, multi-lingual and compassionate," said World Learning Board Chair Rosamond P. Delori. "We are honored to present her with The Distinguished Global Citizen Achievement Award for her dedication to advancing international understanding and global justice."
Dr. Albright was the 64th Secretary of State of the United States. She is a Professor in the Practice of Diplomacy at the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, and chairs the Albright Stonebridge Group, a global strategy firm, and Albright Capital Management LLC, an investment advisory firm focused on emerging markets. Dr. Albright serves on several boards and advisory bodies including the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs, the Pew Global Attitudes Project, and the U.S. Defense Department's Defense Policy Board.
Gwen Ifill, a senior correspondent for "The PBS NewsHour" and the moderator and managing editor of "Washington Week," will moderate a discussion with Dr. Albright immediately following the award presentation.
