European warehouse and distribution: MediaRange relies on package solution by trans-o-flex
MediaRange GmbH, the German producer of digital storage media and office supply products changes its warehouse location and warehouse service provider. New one-stop shop solution simplifies processes and shortens delivery periods
(PresseBox) - After having changed both the operator and location of its central warehouse, MediaRange, the producer of high-quality digital storage media and office supply products, is going to receive all warehouse and distribution services from one single source. The entire inventory has been moved from the old warehouse in Frankfurt to trans-o-flex Logistik-Service's local logistic centre in Frechen near Cologne. In addition to this, trans-o-flex Schnell-Lieferdienst is going to take over the Europe-wide distribution of MediaRange's products. "The package solution provided by trans-o-flex made it possible for us to significantly simplify our logistic processes", says Markus Speer, Managing Director of the medium-sized specialist for IT accessories. "The new location is clearly more favourable for both our procurement and distribution logistics."
Since 80 % of MediaRange's products are forwarded in sea containers to the ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp, transport to the trans-o-flex logistic centre in Frechen is much faster. In addition to this, the new warehouse is also closer to MediaRange's large customers. "Thanks to the new solution, many customers will receive shipments up to 24 hours earlier than before", explains Oliver Rupps, Spokesman of the Board of Managing Directors of the trans-o-flex Logistics Group. "In addition to the geographical advantage, we could also convince them with optimised shipment handling processes and short distances within the warehouse - not to forget the fast cross-docking processes, with which goods are imported directly from the sea containers into trans-o-flex's European distribution network."
Return logistics and customs clearance included
Apart from the cross-docking of particularly urgent shipments, the arriving containers are unloaded by the employees of trans-o-flex Logistik-Service in Frechen. The CDs, DVDs, Blue-ray Discs, USB sticks, SD cards as well as toner cartridges, photo paper, cables, batteries, accessories and packaging materials are palletised and stored in a high-level rack on some 1,500 pallets. Orders from MediaRange are transmitted directly to the warehouse administration system of trans-o-flex by means of a data line, thus automatically initiating the order-specific picking and packing. The European-wide shipment of the parcels and pallets is taken over by trans-o-flex Schnell-Lieferdienst, while trans-o-flex Logistik-Service organises the transportation of complete and partial deliveries to MediaRange's key customers. The service also includes the examination and handling of returns as well as the preparation of customs documents for shipments into countries outside the EU.

The company has developed a large number of tailor-made solutions for specific sectors, e.g. for the pharmaceutical and home entertainment / consumer goods industries. 2. With a special network for active temperature control in the temperature ranges of between 2 and 8 °C as well as 15 and 25 °C, trans-o-flex ThermoMed takes over the transportation of temperature-sensitive goods for the pharmaceutical industry ThermoMed provides multinational pharmaceutical distribution in Europe with daily deliveries to 7 countries including Germany, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Denmark, and France via the ThermoMed European Network. 3. Additional logistic services from storage and picking/packing to value-added services, such as the set-up service for sales displays or electrical appliances, up to customer-specific transport networks are developed and implemented under the umbrella of trans-o-flex Logistik Service. In 2011, annual sales of the Group, which has a workforce of approximately 1,600 employees, amounted to ca. ? 550 million.
