DeSmog Canada Launches to Clean Up PR Pollution from the Public Square

It's the preventing a sensible public conversation on critical issues involving the environment, social justice and the economy.
Today, announces the launch of a new website, , which caters mainly to a Canadian audience and builds on the success of Hoggan's award-winning website , named by Time magazine as one of the Top 25 Best Blogs of 2011. The new site will work to clear the air and explore solutions for cleaning up Canada's polluted public square.
DeSmog.ca will examine why Canadians often feel powerless to demand that government and industry focus on what's really important: developing more effective public policies and transitioning to a healthier, more sustainable economy. It will also provide information and research for journalists and other media professionals.
"Canadians already mistrust business and government, believing the system is rigged and that there is little they can do to make a difference," says Hoggan & Associates President . "This attitude fuels public apathy, playing into a PR strategy to drown out dissent."
Hoggan says the new site's goal is to put an end to the practice of smothering public discourse by exposing it for what it really is: a PR bullying campaign.
