Harper Government Invests in Delta's Community Infrastructure to Create Jobs and Economic Growth
(firmenpresse) - DELTA, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwire) -- 12/19/12 -- Today, Kerry-Lynne Findlay, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada and Member of Parliament for Delta - Richmond East, on behalf of the Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, announced federal funding for upgrades to the Tsawwassen Lawn Bowling Club's grass bowling rink under the Harper Government's Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF).
"By improving local facilities such as the Tsawwassen Lawn Bowling Club, we are helping to boost economic activity while providing a strong foundation for continued growth," said PS Findlay. "With today's investment, our Government is demonstrating our commitment to creating jobs, growth and long-term economic prosperity."
With over $13,000 in federal funding, the Tsawwassen Lawn Bowling Club will remove and replace the side boards and cap the trough surrounding the green. These upgrades will prevent both risk of injury to players and further damage to the playing surface.
"The Tsawwassen Lawn Bowling Club greatly appreciates the support from the Government of Canada to our lawn bowling green upgrading project," stated David Fredricksen, President of the Tsawwassen Lawn Bowling Club. "The project will allow us to enhance the safety and longevity of our lawn bowling green, which is used by hundreds of South Delta residents each year."
CIIF supports, on a cost-shared basis, repairs and improvements to existing community infrastructure accessible to the public. Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD) is delivering the Fund in Western Canada with an allocation of $46.2 million over two years.
Since 2006, the Harper Government, through WD, has invested in job-creating small and medium-sized businesses, aerospace, marine and defence industries, and supported innovative entrepreneurs in pursuing emerging markets. By continuing to promote new economic opportunities, WD is helping to create jobs, economic growth, and long-term prosperity.
