"Photographs play a huge part in creating awareness about the importance of mountains to life," says Climb For Change president and co-founder Mike Schauch. "Through this , we hope to continue to bring people together from around the world to share perspectives, learn from each others' experiences, and inspire each other to reconnect with our natural environment."
Established by the United Nations and observed annually on December 11, International Mountain Day's mission is "to create awareness about the importance of mountains to life, to highlight the opportunities and constraints in mountain development, and to build partnerships that will bring positive change to the world's mountains and highlands."
Amateur and professional photographers are invited to submit entries to the through the Climb For Change Facebook page in the categories of Mountain Sport, Mountain Culture, Mountain Landscape, and Mountain Flora and Fauna. In addition, the Climb for Change People's Choice Award presented by Arc'teryx will be conducted through online voting.
