The Ritz-Carlton, Palm Beach Re-Introduces Chef de Cuisine Matthew McGhee of Signature Restaurant, Angle
South Florida Luxury Resort Creates Remarkable Palm Beach Dining Experiences
(firmenpresse) - PALM BEACH, FL -- (Marketwire) -- 12/05/12 -- The Ritz-Carlton, Palm Beach welcomes back Matthew McGhee as Chef de Cuisine of the signature American supper club restaurant, Angle. After a summer stint in New York City culling the latest culinary trends, Chef McGhee returns with years of culinary experience and a history of world-class training to the signature , which is raising the bar for Southern Florida's upscale dining scene. Angle, named one of the Top 10 Restaurants by Palm Beach Illustrated, presents a stellar new menu crafted from Chef McGhee's naturally progressive approach to cooking and affinity for fresh, local ingredients, meanwhile drawing upon traditional regional cuisine to offer innovative seafood and prime cut selections.
Chef McGhee thrives on creating memorable experiences for each of his guests. He encourages interaction among staff and patrons, which gives the fine dining restaurant a warm, friendly atmosphere. Angle's intimate nature is evidenced by the captivating onyx and amber communal table strategically placed in the center of the dining room. The dramatic table is where Chef engages directly with his guests to personally design a "spontaneous tasting" menu where McGhee presents a beautiful meal from several sources -- current menu items, ingredients available to him from local purveyors and/or from the depths of The Ritz-Carlton, Palm Beach kitchens.
Executive Chef Jason Adams notes, "Chef Matthew is one of the most enthusiastic and creative chefs I have ever met and his flair for perfection shines with every dish. We are thrilled to have him at the helm of Angle and guests will thoroughly enjoy their dinner experience."
Chef McGhee trained at The French Culinary Institute in New York City and the Culinary Institute of America, also in New York. McGhee embarked on his career as a banquet cook at the five-diamond Hilton at Short Hills, New Jersey and from there completed an externship at the Five-Star resort, The Ritz-Carlton Naples in 2003. Chef Matthew honed his craft as Chef Tournant at the world famous Waldorf-Astoria in New York City where his emphasis on unique preparations of fresh ingredients and savory flavors captured a global audience with a discerning palate. McGhee has been privileged and dedicated to stage many times throughout his career in New York City.
It was the Greenbriar Resort, where McGhee expanded his interest and developed skills in classic American cuisine. He served as culinary apprentice and returned later as Sous Chef and Chef de Cuisine where he was responsible for menus and tastings in all outlets, including the fine dining restaurant.
McGhee is active in the food charity circuit, including Palm Beach Food and Wine Festival, benefitting the James Beard Foundation and Share our Strength in West Palm Beach.
