Minister Paradis Highlights the Contribution of the Canadian Aerospace Industry to Canada's Economy
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 12/05/12 -- The Honourable Christian Paradis, Minister of Industry, today emphasized the Harper Government's commitment to innovation, growth and the long-term competitiveness of Canada's aerospace industry at the opening of the 2012 Canadian Aerospace Summit.
"This gathering brings together the best of our world-class aerospace industry, which is a major source of high-quality, highly skilled jobs for Canadians," said Minister Paradis. "More than ever, we need to work together with industry to maintain and expand Canada's advantage on the world stage."
The Minister also took the opportunity to commend the industry for its active participation and valuable contribution to the Review of Aerospace and Space Programs and Policies. The Review's report was presented to the Minister of Industry and released publicly on November 29, 2012.
"This is a crucial juncture for our aerospace industry, characterized by both challenge and opportunity," said Minister Paradis. "I would like to convey my sincere appreciation to Mr. Emerson and the Advisory Council for all their hard work over the past year and to the Aerospace Industries Association of Canada and its members whose time, ideas and expertise were critical to this process."
On February 27, 2012, the Harper Government launched an arm's-length comprehensive review of aerospace and space programs and policies, which was led by the Honourable David L. Emerson, with support from the three appointed council members: Ms. Sandra Pupatello, Mr. Jim Quick and Dr. Jacques Roy.
The Aerospace Industries Association of Canada's annual Aerospace Summit is one of the major events for the Canadian aerospace sector, bringing together industry representatives from across the country, provincial and federal government officials as well as representatives from academia.
