OMango Joins F.I.T. City Restaurant Initiative for Healthy Chicago Eating
(firmenpresse) - AURORA, IL -- (Marketwire) -- 12/05/12 -- OMango, an authentic Indian cuisine restaurant, will participate in F.I.T. City for Healthy Chicago Eating, a collaborative community initiative promoting nutritional dining that launches this month. OMango qualified to join the program by meeting a set of menu requirements and demonstrating a commitment to offering healthy menu options. The F.I.T. City program partners with restaurants, chefs, culinary schools and supporters to promote Fresh, Innovative, and Tasty (FIT) eating for the people of Chicagoland.
F.I.T. City is an initiative of Building a Healthier Chicago that is supported by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (Region V), the Chicago Department of Public Health, the Institute of Medicine of Chicago, and the Chicago Medical Society. Through the F.I.T. City program, Building a Healthier Chicago aims to help Chicago become the Healthiest City in the nation by adding restaurants like OMango to its growing list of nutritious dining options.

Select restaurants are invited to apply to join the F.I.T. City Initiative and are accepted based on a set of healthy-eating criteria. The menu requirements include:
Minimum of two items, other than salad, whose main ingredients are fresh fruits and vegetables and minimum of two items whose main ingredients include whole-grain selections
No menu items with artificial trans fat
Only plant-based cooking oils are used for frying entrées and side dishes
A non-deep fried fruit or vegetable is offered as an alternative to french fries or chips
OMango has no fryer and well over 40 items with fresh vegetables and antibiotic-free chicken.
