Advantech Providing Quality Assurance Services for Naval Hospital Guam

(firmenpresse) - AGANA HEIGHTS, GUAM -- (Marketwire) -- 12/04/12 -- Advantech has been retained to provide a wide variety of Quality Assurance (QA) services for the $158 million replacement project in Agana Heights, Guam. Jack Fraser, P.E., Advantech president/CEO, made the announcement.

The current hospital opened in 1954. The completed hospital, expected to open in Fall 2014, will have 42 beds, four operating rooms, two cesarean-section rooms and improved diagnostic capabilities. The new hospital will also be certified by the Green Building Council as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver designation.

According to Fraser, staff has been the on-site representative for the architect of record Sherlock, Smith and Adams Architects/Engineers (SSA; prime contractor).

"Patrick Smith, who's serving on-site in Guam as the eyes and ears for the design team, has extensive experience as an architectural construction manager and his expertise is an important component that is contributing daily to the success of the project as it progresses through the very complex and challenging construction phase," said Fraser.

Key Advantech tasks have included:

Coordinating contractor QA meetings

Coordinating Request for Information (RFI)/submittal meetings

Joint QA/SSA project observations of in-place meetings

Plans and Specification clarifications

Liaison between the architect and ROICC (Resident Officer in Charge of Construction)
