Mr. Dacosta was apprehended on September 29 in Toronto by the Ontario Provincial Police, and is inadmissible to Canada for serious criminality. His convictions include assault, obstructing a peace officer, escaping lawful custody and possession of a weapon. Mr. Jama was arrested October 31 by the Edmonton Police Service Specialized Traffic Apprehension Team and is inadmissible to Canada for serious criminality for being convicted of obstructing and resisting a peace officer and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
Mr. Brown was arrested in Brampton on November 23 by the Immigration Task Force, comprised of CBSA and RCMP officers. He is inadmissible for serious criminality, having been convicted of possession with intent to traffic in a controlled substance, and possession of stolen property.
"Since the launch of the "Wanted by the CBSA" list in the summer of 2011, there have been 24 removals, and 35 arrests. Our message is quite clear: Canada offers no safe haven to those who have broken the law and have endangered the safety of our citizens.
Our government is committed to locating and removing individuals whose actions pose a threat to the public. By taking them off our streets, we ensure the safety of our communities.
I commend our law enforcement officers on their continued success in arresting and removing people identified on the 'Wanted by the CBSA' list."
