AvaSure Attracts Top Health Leaders to Advance Solution to Patient Falls
(firmenpresse) - BELMONT, MI -- (Marketwire) -- 11/27/12 -- AvaSure, a division of AvaSure Holdings, Inc., has enlisted a new advisory board comprised of some of the most experienced leaders in healthcare to help advance its patient safety and cost reduction solution.
The AvaSys patient observation and communication platform helps hospitals make better use of nursing resources by allowing a single nurse to monitor multiple patients remotely and intervene in time to prevent falls and other dangerous behavior. The "telesitter solution" also allows hospitals to dramatically reduce their reliance on one-to-one sitters, thereby reducing their labor budgets. After the initial installation in Michigan four years ago, this unique system is now deployed in hospitals from coast to coast, with many more rollouts coming soon.
"This is a huge story, since nursing personnel costs are one of the hospital's largest operating expenses," says Brad Playford, CEO of AvaSure. "We knew we needed to enlist seasoned industry professionals to help us validate and communicate this story to the hospital systems that could benefit the most from our solutions. I could not be more pleased with the caliber and commitment of the individuals who have joined our advisory board."
David W. Benfer, former CEO of Saint Raphael Health System in New Haven, Conn., and former chairman of the American College of Hospital Executives, will chair the advisory board. "The timing for AvaSure's technologies is now as hospital executives cope with delivering excellent, affordable care despite rising healthcare costs, an aging demographic, nursing shortages and regulatory compliance," Benfer says. "AvaSys will provide relief and answers for many organizations facing these challenges."
In addition to Benfer, AvaSure's advisory board includes:
William M. Kelley, former Chairman and CEO of Hill-Rom; Honorary Fellow, American College of Hospital Executives
Charles S. Lauer, former Publisher of Modern Healthcare magazine; Honorary Fellow, American College of Hospital Executives
Samuel L. Odle, former CEO of the University of Indiana Hospitals; former Chairman of the American College of Hospital Executives
William D. Petasnick, former CEO of Froedtert Health System, Milwaukee; former Chairman of the American Hospital Association
Andrea Amalfitano, DO, PhD, Chief Clinical Officer, AvaSure; Professor, Michigan State University Department of Pediatrics, Microbiology and Molecular Genetics; Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board, Etubics, Inc.
Connie R. Curran, RN, EdD, President of Curran Associates consulting; Vice President for Healthcare Management and Patient Services, American Hospital Association.
"I think I speak for the whole group when I say that we are all very impressed, intrigued and attracted by the enormous potential that AvaSure's solutions have to reduce expenses and improve safety in both large and small hospital systems nationally," says Dr. Amalfitano. "That's why we're here."
AvaSys is an advanced patient observation and communications platform that allows a nurse to remotely monitor multiple patients in diverse locations, anticipate their needs, identify risky situations and alert floor staff in time to avert injuries. The "one-to-many" nature of the AvaSys solution permits staffing reductions without sacrificing patient oversight and safety.
AvaSys is a product of AvaSure, a division of AvaSure Holdings, Inc., that develops, markets and deploys technology and educational tools that support the nursing profession in improving its practice environment. For more information, visit .
