Monarch Airlines Celebrates Flying 100,000th Passenger to Malaga from London Gatwick
(firmenpresse) - LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwire) -- 11/23/12 -- Leading scheduled leisure airline, Monarch, today carried its 100,000th passenger this year to . The Spanish destination is the airline's most popular route from Gatwick, followed closely by Faro and Alicante.
The airline operates up to 14 flights a week during the summer and four flights a week during the winter from Gatwick to Malaga. Located on Spain's Costa del Sol, the airport is the gateway to Spain's well loved resorts of Torremolinos, Marbella and Fuengirola.
Gatwick has now overtaken Manchester as Monarch's most popular departure airport with more than 790,000 passengers departing from there so far during 2012, a significant increase of 37% year on year.
Commenting on these figures Kevin George, Monarch Airlines' Managing Director said, "The Costa del Sol is one of the UK's favourite holiday destinations and we are delighted that so many people chose to fly with Monarch this year on this increasingly popular route.
"We know that Gatwick is the airport of choice for many of our customers in the South East and therefore we have recently expanded our routes to provide them with more holiday options. The new routes include the new winter sun destination of Madeira and new ski flights to Grenoble and Friedrichshafen. We look forward to seeing passenger numbers at Gatwick grow further during 2013."
