Minister Raitt Congratulates Fredericton International Airport Authority and Public Service Alliance of Canada on Reaching a New Agreement to End Their Work Stoppage
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 11/20/12 -- Today, the Honourable Lisa Raitt, Canada's Labour Minister, congratulated the Fredericton International Airport Authority and the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC), Canadian Transportation Employees Union Local 60601, on ratifying a new collective agreement and bringing an end to an eight month work stoppage.
"I am very pleased that the Fredericton International Airport Authority and PSAC have ended their work stoppage by reaching an agreement and cooperating with a federal mediator to resolve remaining issues," said Minister Raitt. "Strong labour-management relations benefit economic prosperity and, in this case, the security of Canadians."
The PSAC, Canadian Transportation Employees Union Local 60601, represents approximately 25 employees working at Fredericton International Airport, whose previous collective agreement expired in 2009. The union members have been on strike since February 13, 2012.
The agreement was reached with assistance from the Labour Program's Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service. The Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service provides dispute resolution and prevention assistance to trade unions and employers under the jurisdiction of the Canada Labour Code.
