Harper Government Invests in Improvements to Kamloops' Community Infrastructure
(firmenpresse) - KAMLOOPS, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/16/12 -- Today, Cathy McLeod, Member of Parliament for Kamloops - Thompson - Cariboo, on behalf of the Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, announced federal funding for Heffley Creek Hall under the Harper Government's Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF).
"I'm pleased that our Government is improving community facilities while creating jobs and economic growth here in Heffley Creek," said MP McLeod. "Facilities like the Heffley Creek Hall are the heart and soul of our community. They provide so many services from group activities, to social support, to public information, and we are proud to support them."
Funding of $4,900 from the federal Government will allow the Heffley Creek Community Recreation Association to improve the Heffley Creek Hall. The association will replace the flooring in public areas of the facility.
"We are extremely pleased to be provided funding through the CIIF program," said Carl Vetter, President of the Heffley Creek Community Recreation Association. "This will allow us to upgrade the flooring in our hall that is in dire need of replacement. On behalf of all executive and members, we thank you for this support."
CIIF supports, on a cost-shared basis, repairs and improvements to existing community infrastructure accessible to the public. Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD) is delivering the Fund in Western Canada with an allocation of $46.2 million over two years.
