The passage of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) resulted in significant changes to the ways Americans will access and purchase health insurance. A key feature of ACA, and one that may have the biggest impact on state budgets and personnel, is the requirement for states to decide whether they will connect to the Federally Facilitated Exchange (FFE) or to establish a State-Based Exchange (SBE) by January 1, 2014.
With the November 16, 2012 deadline quickly approaching for states to send the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) declaration letters on whether they will implement a FFE or establish a SBE, Cognosante's latest white paper offers states strategies and key areas of engagement to consider if they choose to implement and operate a FFE.
