Stag Energy Services: New Technology Makes Shale Energy Imminently Accessible
A New Report Finds That the United States May Have an Abundance of Energy Reserves, Locked in Shale Reserves in the Ohio Area; The Report Has Won the Attention of Stag Energy Services
(firmenpresse) - HOUSTON, TX -- (Marketwire) -- 11/12/12 -- For decades now, domestic energy production has been a matter of paramount importance, for U.S. energy experts and economists alike. It has long been assumed, by American laypeople, that the problem with U.S. energy independence was a simple lack of resources -- that the nation does not have the kinds of natural oil and gas reserves it needs to provide for its energy needs. A new report that this is not the case at all, however -- that the United States has significant energy reserves, and that technological advances are making those reserves more accessible than ever. The report has won the attention of .
The report in question comes from United States Geological Survey, which, last week, released its first assessment of the Uticah/Point Pleasant shale play. This Ohio region has long been suspected to have rich oil and gas deposits, and the USGS study confirms as much, expressing optimism over the shale reserves found in this area. According to the report, the Uticah shale likely has roughly 38 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, as well as 940 million barrels of oil. Experts have noted that, if anything, these figures represent conservative estimates.
One of the report's most significant characteristics, however, is its mention of the horizontal drilling and fracturing techniques that are used to release these energy supplies from shale reserves. As some commentators have noted, the presence of these natural gas and oil reserves are not new; what is new is the technology that allows energy professionals to release and develop this energy.
This finding has won the attention of Stag Energy Services. Based in Texas, Stag Energy Services is devoted to offering support services to energy producers all over the country. Stag Energy Services has responded to the new geological report with a statement to the press, in which Operations Manager James Mann offers some optimistic words of his own.
"What we see here is an example of a long-standing energy problem being solved through the creativity and ingenuity of energy professionals," says the Stag Energy Services press statement. "For a long time, energy companies had no way of getting to this shale energy, but new technology has made it much more accessible. It is a good reminder of the important role that creative problem-solving and technological improvements play in America's energy industry."
