Star Dispatches Weekly Publishing Series Offers Unique Perspectives on News Stories

(firmenpresse) - TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 11/09/12 -- The Toronto Star announced today it is launching a weekly eReads publishing program aimed at delivering exclusive long-form journalism direct from the largest newspaper newsroom in Canada to readers across the country and around the world.

With in-depth content and expanded coverage, each weekly piece will take readers beyond the pages of the Toronto Star to explore news and feature stories from a new perspective.

"We believe readers will truly enjoy this new series," said John Cruickshank, Publisher of the Toronto Star and President of Star Media Group. "It complements the award-winning reporting and writing that appears in the Star and on our website, thestar.com, and will provide readers with more background information, analysis and content than they can get anywhere else."

Star Dispatches is a subscription program that publishes every Friday, starting November 9, and is available on computers, tablets and eRead devices for only $1 a week. Single editions can be purchased for just $2.99 at the starstore.ca starting on Friday, November 16. Details on how to subscribe are available at the stardispatches.com website.

The first two eReads are now available free of charge at .

The first eRead, ORNGE: The Star Investigation that Broke the Story, by award-winning investigative journalist Kevin Donovan, is a behind-the-scene look at how the Star discovered the truth of what was happening at the scandal-ridden Ontario air ambulance agency. The second eRead, I Remember: Stories from the Conflict Zones, by reporters Paul Hunter and Jim Rankin, is a Remembrance Day collection of war veterans and war correspondents recalling touchstone moments of their war experiences.

In the coming weeks, Star Dispatches will feature food writer Jennifer Bain's favourite holiday cookie recipes and an in-depth examination by long-time Star crime reporter Peter Edwards into what's next for crime boss Vito Rizzuto.
