According to the Internet Advertising Revenue Report, from the Interactive Advertising Bureau and PricewaterhouseCoopers, internet advertising revenue in the U.S. reached an all-time high of $17 billion during the first half of 2012, a year-over-year increase of 14 percent. Search ad revenues represented approximately 48 percent of the interactive advertising market with $8.1 billion in revenues, which was 19 percent higher compared to last year.
"These half-year figures come on the heels of a study from Harvard Business School researchers that points to the ad-supported internet ecosystem as a critical driver of the U.S. economy. For the third quarter of 2012 the company reported search and display advertising revenue increased 24 percent to $23.3 million, from $18.7 million a year ago.
TripAdvisor branded sites make up the largest travel community in the world, with more than 60 million unique monthly visitors, and over 75 million reviews and opinions. Shares of the company gained nearly 20 percent last Friday after reporting strong third quarter results. Revenues for the third quarter surged 18 percent to $212.7 million.
