Cafe2U Coffee Franchise Wins Two Medals in Competition, Expands to Sixth Country
World's Largest Coffee Food Truck Franchise Expanding in United States
(firmenpresse) - BEND, OR -- (Marketwire) -- 11/08/12 -- Cafe2U, a fast-growing mobile espresso franchise that has opened five coffee franchises in the United States this year, had a momentous October, winning two medals in an international coffee competition and expanding to a sixth country, South Africa.
The company won two medals last month in the Golden Bean Awards, an international competition which drew 1,100 entrees. Cafe2U won awards in the latté and chain/franchise espresso categories. The company also won a 2010 Golden Bean award in the coffee chain/franchise category.
Cafe2U's expansion into South Africa follows its entry into New Zealand, Germany, the U.S. and the United Kingdom. The company, founded in Australia in 2000, began franchising in 2005 and has 200 franchise owners. The first Florida franchise opened Nov. 5 in Naples, Fla., joining U.S. locations in Chico, Calif.; Denver; Eugene, Ore.; and Savannah, Ga.
Marco Da Silva, who with his cousin Dylan launched renowned Mokador Coffee in Johannesburg in 2007, is excited to bring Cafe2U to South Africa. "We cannot wait to launch our first van into the market and introduce South Africa to the amazing coffee in the most convenient way possible," he said.
Cafe2U found its niche by packing full espresso bars into vans that deliver a full café menu to workplaces that don't have access to nearby coffee shops. Cafe2U owners visit dozens of businesses each weekday and generally finish their workdays by 3 p.m.
Cafe2U helps franchise owners build the Monday-Friday route, and provides a guaranteed income during the two-week launch. Owners can boost the incomes further by serving coffee at night and weekend events.
Now that the initial American franchises have proven successful, the company has big expansion plans. "The U.S. is the largest coffee-drinking country in the world, and we think it can easily support 1,000 franchises," said Cafe2U USA President and CEO Scott Bundy.
