Frightened Rabbit Announces Release of "PEDESTRIAN VERSE"; Acclaimed Scottish Rock Band Sets Full-Length Label Debut; "PEDESTRIAN VERSE" Available February 5th in the U.S.
(firmenpresse) - NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 11/07/12 -- Canvasback/Atlantic recording group Frightened Rabbit has announced details of its eagerly awaited fourth studio album "PEDESTRIAN VERSE." The forthcoming release, available February 5th in the U.S., was recorded at the famed Monnow Valley Studio in Rockfield, South Wales with producer Leo Abrahams (Brian Eno, David Byrne, Grace Jones).
Commenting on the new album, singer Scott Hutchison says -- "The title is taken from a lyric in 'State Hospital.' I felt it was a nicely faceted title, with enough layered meaning to remain open to interpretation. Above all though, it was a gauntlet I threw down for myself. If you call your album 'PEDESTRIAN VERSE,' you can't settle for any old lyric. It forced me to better myself. In fact, I think we all stepped up on this album and I believe that our producer Leo Abrahams had a major role in that step. He threw our music into areas we had not previously imagined. More than any other record we've done this has been a genuine journey of discovery into new ways of working in order to develop and fully realize each of the songs. As a result, I think 'PEDESTRIAN VERSE' the strongest and most interesting record we've made to date."
Frightened Rabbit has earned a wide range of critical applause and a fervent international fan following with their emotional melodies and frank lyricism. In September, the band released their "STATE HOSPITAL" EP, a collection of five songs that, as Hutchison explained, "for one reason or another did not fit on the full-length record, either thematically or tonally." "Building and surfing crescendos as big as Boeings," raved SPIN, while Stereogum called the EP's title track "a sweeping, cinematic anthem." And Paste Magazine described the collection as "cinematic... tells dramatic tales of war, loneliness and breakdowns."
As moving and triumphant on stage as they are on record, Frightened Rabbit has performed countless headline shows, as well as sharing stages with such like-minded artists as Modest Mouse and Atlantic labelmates Death Cab for Cutie. The band has also won over audiences at a scope of international festivals, including Glastonbury, T in the Park, Oxegen Festival, and Latitude in the UK, Australia's Splendour in the Grass, and our own Lollapalooza and South By SouthWest (SXSW). Having recently completed a sold out fall tour stateside, Frightened Rabbit will soon announce a spring U.S. trek.
