South Kansas Grasslands Sell for $2.8 Million in First of Two Major Schrader Auctions in SW Kansas
(firmenpresse) - ENGLEWOOD, KS -- (Marketwire) -- 11/05/12 -- The 5,613-acre 4/S Ranch in Clark County, Kan., sold for $2.8 million Thursday in the first of two major Kansas auctions in eight days being conducted by .
Schrader will return to Southwest Kansas Nov. 9 for the auction of 2,717 acres of quality farmland (mostly irrigated) along the U.S. 56 corridor near Moscow, Kan. Most of the property is located in Stevens County, with a single 156-acre tract in Grant County.
"The sale of the 4/S Ranch and the upcoming sale of the property on Nov. 9 highlight the remarkable diversity of Kansas' agricultural assets," said R.D. Schrader, president of the auction company, which is conducting the Nov. 9 auction in cooperation with the Lund Company.
Sandwiched between the two sales will be the auction of approximately 1,855 acres of land -- most of it irrigated farmland -- in Nebraska. That auction of land in the Hastings area, also in cooperation with the Lund Company, is set for Thursday, Nov. 8.
The 4/S Ranch had been used for grazing and hunting. The bidders at the auction focused primarily on its grassland, according to Brad Horrall, who managed the auction for Schrader. "Ranchers were looking for grassland, and there appears to be a pent-up demand for grass, so we're still in a positive market for selling this type of property," said Horrall.
