MABC Congratulates New Canadian Mining Hall of Fame Inductee, Jim O'Rourke

"Over the course of his career, Jim O'Rourke has been instrumental in the development and success of a number of high profile mines around the province resulting in the creation of hundreds of jobs in BC communities," said Karina Brino, President and CEO, Mining Association of BC. "Added to this achievement, Jim has been exemplary, during the span of his career, for his strong commitment to forging lasting community partnerships where he operates, garnering relationships based on mutual trust and respect. Jim is also recognized as an innovative leader through his creation of strong partnerships with Pacific Rim nations as part of the Pacific Gateway initiative."

Jim O'Rourke was also the founder of BC Children's Hospital, Mining for Miracles Campaign () which, over the last 25 years, has raised more than $20 million in areas of critical needs at BC Children's Hospital. Jim is also involved with Fishing for Kids, a campaign raising funds for children's charities.

Jim O'Rourke continues to play a major role in mining industry as the President & CEO of Copper Mountain Mine near Princeton, BC, leading the mine into production in 2011.

The twenty-fifth annual Canadian Hall of Fame induction dinner is on January 10, 2013 at the Fairmont York Hotel in Toronto. For tickets and more information, visit .

The Canadian Mining Hall of Fame was conceived by the late Maurice R. Brown, former editor and publisher of The Northern Miner, as a way to recognize and honour the legendary mine finders and builders of a great Canadian industry. The Hall was established in 1988 and currently has 150 members ().
