Minister Toews Statement on A Removal and an Expanded "Wanted by the CBSA" List
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 10/26/12 -- The Honourable Vic Toews, Minister of Public Safety, made the following statement on the removal of Giorgio Cote, who was inadmissible to Canada under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, on grounds of organized criminality and was arrested on Oct 16 in the Toronto area. He has been convicted of theft and possession of stolen property.
The Minister also noted the addition of five new names to the Canada Border Services Agency's "Wanted by the CBSA list".
"This is the 21st removal since the launch of the "Wanted by the CBSA" list in July 2011. It sends a strong message that Canada's doors are not open to those who have broken the law and have endangered the safety of our citizens.
Our government is committed to locating and removing those who have failed to comply with the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and are inadmissible to Canada. With the help of Canadians, those individuals intent on flouting our laws will receive a very clear message that our country does not tolerate such activity."
