AkzoNobel Aerospace Coatings presents new Chrome Free Pretreatment at NBAA 2012
(PresseBox) - Welcoming the General and Business Aviation market to NBAA 2012, AkzoNobel Aerospace Coatings is delighted to present new products from the Alumigrip® range on top of a new chrome free pre-treatment that simplifies the aircraft maintenance process.
Under the name Metaflex SP 1050, the new chrome free pre-treatment is being presented. Metaflex SP 1050 Pre-treatment can be applied over several metals and composite. The versatile system brings time and cost saving benefits to the paint shop and provides an innovative approach to the way surface pre-treatment products are utilized in the re-painting process. Reduced VOC emissions by as much as 75% offer an additional advantage, resulting in a non hazardous, odourless product. This further re-enforces AkzoNobel Aerospace Coatings? commitment to safeguarding the environment.
Another environmentally progressive coating solution presented to the General and Business Aviation market is the Alumigrip Base Coat and Alumigrip Clear Coat technology. This latest Alumigrip technology can reduce cycle time by up to 40%. The buffable finish is highly resistant to damage from chemicals and Skydrol. In addition to ease of application Alumigrip BC/CC provides extended durability, superior hiding and a glass finish.

Alumigrip® 4001 chromate free, corrosion inhibiting primer / surfacer

The new Alumigrip products drive General and Business Aviation coating technology forward in conjunction with key industry demands for chrome elimination, ease of application and cycle time reductions.
Alumigrip 2111 is a chrome free, corrosion inhibiting and urethane compatible primer for application to aircraft exterior surfaces. Alumigrip 2111 is Skydrol® resistant, provides excellent corrosion protection and optimizes the system adhesion of the exterior decorative finish.
Alumigrip 4101 is a chrome free corrosion inhibiting epoxy primer. The primer is specifically formulated for application to conversion coated exterior aluminium and composite surfaces. Alumigrip 4101 provides a cost effective option and considerably reduces the risk of exposure to chromates during the application and sanding processes. Approved to Hawker Beechcraft BS178928 and Bombardier BAMS 565-018 specifications, Alumigrip 4101 is an important technology for today?s environmentally concerned aerospace industry leaders.
Alumigrip 4001 is a primer/surfacer formulated for application to reactivated process primers. It may also be applied directly to metal using a chemical conversion coating per MIL-C-5541. This unique product significantly reduces process time by providing chrome free corrosion inhibition and the benefits of a primer/surfacer in one product. This combination of properties enables the applicator to further reduce process time while providing the basis for the ultimate high gloss finish.
Alumigrip 4200 is a low VOC buffable topcoat that provides premium gloss and superior Distinctness of Image (DOI). This makes it the ideal product to meet the high expectations of today?s discriminating aircraft owners. Formulated to provide the most forgiving application parameters in high temperature and humidity conditions, this topcoat provides a wide application window resulting in less re-work. Alumigrip 4200 is incredibly easy to apply and results in a beautiful, smooth finish.
