8th Annual Bowling for Boobies Busts Attendance Records
Busted Foundation's Signature Fundraising Event in Los Angeles Sells Out, Raising More Than $95,000 to Support Women Living With Breast Cancer
(firmenpresse) - UNIVERSAL CITY, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 10/22/12 -- Busted Foundation held its 8th annual "Bowling for Boobies" event last night at Jillian's in Universal City. As the event continues to gain momentum and draw from celebrity supporters and an increasingly devoted community of fundraisers, survivors and recipients, the event broke attendance records.
Celebrity guests attending to lend their support included Kaitlyn Black of "Hart of Dixie," Amy Paffrath and Drew Seeley. Thomas Lennon ("Reno 911") also returned for the fourth year, and George Gray of "The Price is Right" emceed.
Among the most enthusiastic supporters and attendees are those personally affected by the disease, and recipients of financial support from Busted Foundation. Theresa Broadnax of Los Angeles received a financial grant in 2010 after being diagnosed in 2009, and has supported the foundation and Bowling for Boobies ever since.
"I had insurance, but it did not cover everything," Broadnax said. "Busted Foundation helped me by providing financial support and coming through for me at a very difficult time. I support them now in any way I can, so I can help to raise money for another recipient who may find herself in the same situation I was in."
The 2012 "Bowling for Boobies" event earned more than $95,000 in proceeds, which go directly to support women who are financially impacted by living and fighting breast cancer. To date, the foundation has raised more than $450,000 to benefit these women.
"To see this event grow and flourish, and the resulting financial support we're able to provide women in need, is truly a gift," said Stefanie LaHart, CEO of Busted Foundation. "The people that have supported us from day one continue to be a rock for us, and those that continue to spread the word about our efforts and help us raise money are the cornerstone of our foundation.
