Get Quotes
Don't settle for the first price you are quoted as you might be being ripped off. Shop around for the best deal by getting a range of different quotes for the work that needs to be done. Prices can vary significantly especially when it comes to parts and labour costs.
Total job costs
Some mechanics may try to charge you by the hour but getting a quote for the total job cost will be much more beneficial. Whilst this might be difficult to gauge in the beginning you could ask how long it will take and set a maximum time and budget limit.
Recommendations
Speak to your friends and family for local recommendations when it comes to finding a reliable mechanic. Additionally you could use the internet to conduct research in your area and check out online reviews of the work that a mechanic might have done.
