(firmenpresse) - FORT LAUDERDALE, FL -- (Marketwire) -- 10/18/12 -- On Thursday, October 18th, the Broward County Crime Commission will be hosting its 33rd Annual Criminal Justice Dinner, where 43 detectives from 40 agencies will be honored, through the Crime Commission's first ever Detective of the Year track. The Prosecutor of the Year will also be honored, along with keynote speeches and commentaries by: US Attorney Wilfredo Ferrer, Broward Sheriff Al Lamberti, and Broward State Attorney Mike Satz.

The Broward County Crime Commission will also be unveiling its inaugural Frank R. Pinter Lifetime Achievement Award and inaugural Thomas A. Magill Community Service Award.

Frank R. Pinter was the founder of the Broward County Crime Commission in 1976. After his passing in 2007, the Crime Commission found it necessary to declare an award in his honor. Senior Judge Joel Lazarus will be awarded with the inaugural Broward County Crime Commission Frank R. Pinter Lifetime Achievement Award. Having served as Prosecutor from 1978 to 1993, and then a Judge from 1993 to 2010, Joel T. Lazarus has served as the consummate Criminal Justice representative in Broward County. The Crime Commission found it hard to find someone more deserving. The award will be presented by Davie Police Chief Pat Lynn.

Tom Magill was the Police Chief of Hallandale Beach. After his passing in 2010, the Crime Commission decided to declare an award on his behalf. Brian Walsh of Wings Plus, Inc. will be the initial recipient of the Broward County Crime Commission Thomas A. Magill Community Service Award. Brian Walsh, a retired New York City Police Officer, has been an example of community service for all his life. Coral Springs City Commissioner Vince Boccard, and Coral Springs Civic Leader Daniel Gonzalez will present the award to Mr. Walsh.

Crime Commission President, James DePelisi, stated, "The City of Coral Springs really has the term community service down to somewhat of a template. This is demonstrated by the great leadership for which Commissioner Vince Boccard, Dan Gonzalez and recipient Brian Walsh have attested."

The Broward County Crime Commission is a 36 year old state chartered office in support of public safety on behalf of law-abiding citizens.
