Bournemouth Hotel's Concierge Treks 20 Miles in Aid of Local Cancer Charity
Steve Pini of Bournemouth Highcliff Marriott Hotel Travelled From Sandbanks Beach to Hengistbury and Back to Support Pound the Prom Event
(firmenpresse) - BOURNEMOUTH, ENGLAND -- (Marketwire) -- 10/03/12 -- On a perfect summer's day in July Steve Pini, concierge at the Bournemouth Highcliff Marriott Hotel, took part in Lewis-Manning Hospice's 'Pound the Prom' event. The event raised £ 1000 for the charity which provides free care and support to people with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.
Steve single handedly visited shops and businesses in Poole, Bournemouth, Charminster and Winton and personally asked members of the local community to sponsor him for the trek. Upon completing the challenge he then visited each person again to collect the money.
"Steve is a valued employee. Guests appreciate his excellent service and he always gives more. He has been very focused on raising funds for the hospice, which the hotel actively supports," said Andrew Frances, General Manager at the Bournemouth Highcliff Marriott Hotel. Steve said he was proud to serve the community and support the local hospice. He said: "The trek was tough, it was a long way and at the end of it I had very sore feet and sunburn, but I knew once I started I couldn't give up. Lewis-Manning Hospice is a wonderful charity and all the staff and volunteers are good people who are here for the community.
"I am grateful to everyone who was generous enough to sponsor me. I am now thinking of what my next fundraising event could be and I invite the local community to join me!"
