INFORUM Greets TIME Magazine's Joel Stein for a Night on the Town
(firmenpresse) - SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 10/03/12 -- INFORUM announced today that it will host TIME Magazine columnist and author Joel Stein in conversation with Micah Fitzerman-Blue on Oct. 8 at Swig Bar.
As TIME's cheeky humor columnist, Stein is famous for his rants against societal norms, sinking his teeth into the country's cultural underbelly. Now, the last man standing is Stein himself -- and it's time for a takedown of himself. With a new son at home, he's calling his own manliness into question, with predictably hilarious results. Join us for a night of laughs with the man who says everything you wish you were gutsy enough to say yourself.
Most men take their wives' first pregnancy as a sign to start a trust fund, take a vacation or two, and dig into their family values; but Joel Stein is not like most men. Upon learning that his wife was pregnant, he decided he needed to become manlier -- in the rugged, handy, sporty sense of the word -- before meeting his unborn son. "Man Made: A Stupid Quest for Masculinity" is Stein's record of his quest.
Stein has appeared on television shows that, according to his website bio, "you forget as soon as you finish watching them," and has written for over a dozen magazines and newspapers. He sees himself as a funny guy in a world full of funny guys but he's funny enough to be the guy whose column you flip to at the back of TIME magazine to read every week. Readers have followed him through TIME and Los Angeles Times' columns and amidst controversies like those surrounding his columns on war and immigration -- "Warriors and Wusses" and "My Own Private India" -- but how seriously should we take a man who calls himself the "self-promoting whore/author of 'Man Made: A Stupid Quest for Masculinity'?"
Join INFORUM for the unique opportunity to grab a beer with Stein as he discusses all things humorous with Fitzerman-Blue, co-founder and editorial director of the Bureau of Trade -- an e-commerce meets entertainment site for men.
