43% of Canadian Women Admit to Having Relations Outside the Hotel Room While on Vacation
(firmenpresse) - HAMILTON, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 10/02/12 -- Vacation seller tripcentral.ca released a polling 1,013 Canadian women about their sexual habits while on vacation. Ipsos Reid conducted the survey for tripcentral.ca using a sophisticated online methodology(i). The first of four sets of results were released today on the company's website at along with an , (PowerPoint and raw data tables) and broadcast quality .
Forty-three percent (43%) of the women surveyed admitted to having sex outside their hotel room while on vacation. The women surveyed were ages 18-60, had taken a vacation outside Canada in the last three years by airplane, and were either married, common law, in a relationship or casually dating.
Fifty-four percent (54%) of the women said they'd fantasized about having sex outside the hotel room.
1st Place: "Sex on the beach," where 35% of women surveyed had fantasized about it, and 20% admit to actually having done it.
2nd Place: "In the ocean," where 25% fantasized about it and 15% did it.
3rd Place: "On a boat" with 21% reporting the fantasy and only 10% having done it.
Women who have had sex outside their hotel room (the Friskies) are far more likely (71%) also to have fantasized about it than those who haven't (the Un-Friskies). Of the Friskies (those who had sex somewhere outside their hotel room), sex on the beach was most popular at 45% of the sample.
Many of the management at tripcentral.ca were, at one time, front-line travel agents, including the company President Richard Vanderlubbe.
"I've always felt an undercurrent of romantic motivation being a key driver to the vacation travel purchase. We know that women initiate and lead vacation travel planning more than men."
The survey reveals significant differences not only between the various age groups but also between the fantasy and reality of sex outside the hotel room. It was notable that the 45-60-year-old age group was less adventurous than the 18-34-year-old group in many cases on both fantasy and reality. Also notable, women between 35-44 years old were most likely to have had sex outside their hotel room.
"Our survey is more representative of female vacationers than others you might find online, which are often based on unscientific polls from dating sites," said Vanderlubbe.
Questions probing about other places outside the hotel room included: in the pool, hot tub, sauna, hammock, on the balcony, lounge chair, and in a public restroom.

Females contacted who were not in a relationship and/or had not taken a vacation, by plane, outside of Canada in the last 3 years were screened and prevented from completing the survey. A survey with an unweighted probability sample of this size and a 100% response rate would have an estimated margin of error of +/- 3.1 percentage points, 19 times out of 20, of what the results would have been had the entire population of females, aged 18-60, who are in a relationship and had taken a vacation, by plane, outside of Canada in the last 3 years, been surveyed.
