Customers Confused by Complicated Rules Regarding Hand Baggage on Flights, Finds Send My Bag
(firmenpresse) - LONDON, ENGLAND -- (Marketwire) -- 10/02/12 -- Travellers are used to adhering to strict hand baggage rules when flying, but many are confused about the rules regarding the size and weight allowance, finds Send My Bag, the provider of a simple and affordable way to . As many people try to save money when travelling, particularly with low cost airlines, choosing to only take cabin baggage is becoming the norm, but the rules vary significantly depending on the carrier chosen, meaning they can often be caught out with fines.
One of the biggest low cost airlines in the UK, easyJet stipulates a maximum size of 56 x 45 x 25cm including wheels for cabin baggage, but offers no restrictions on the weight. However, travellers flying no-frills carrier Ryanair risk being fined if they follow the same rules, as a smaller sized piece of luggage is allowed, weighing up to 10kgs. Anything above this could land them with a fee of GBP 50 to place the bag in the aircraft hold. Flying with sports equipment, such as skis, becomes even more complicated, with many passengers now choosing to send luggage separately to avoid these complex and expensive rules which not only leave them out of pocket, but significantly inconvenienced.
Adam Ewart, founder of comments: "Many travellers have been tripped up by assuming each airline has the same rules regarding size and weight, it is therefore essential that travellers check with their carrier in advance. We are seeing people getting increasingly fed up with complicated rules that airlines have regarding cabin and hold baggage and alternatively choosing to avoid the inconvenience altogether. Using services like ours which sends luggage to your destination reduces stress and saves on extortionate excess baggage fees."
One Send My Bag customer concurs: "When flying with flybe last year from Belfast city airport to Birmingham international airport, I was forced to pay a GBP 40 fee for oversized hand luggage as the small suitcase I was taking had wheels attached which prevented it from fitting into their box at the gate."
Adam continues: "Our aim is to put the joy back into travel, and remove the financial and psychological stress from the experience, whether it is a family of four going on holiday, a couple enjoying a winter sports trip or a business person sending equipment overseas."
