Michael Elliot, CEO of Eco-Safe, stated, "Although ozone has been approved for use on food for over eleven years, use of ozonated water for the final step in sanitizing equipment has not yet been accepted. Since ozone is the strongest, safest, and fastest antimicrobial agent in existence, it only makes sense that Eco-Safe would take the national lead in having it approved for this purpose."
Elliot continued, "Eco-Safe was the sole sponsor of California Assembly Bill 1427 which was signed into law by Governor Brown on Thursday, September 27. Since food code legislation is determined on a state-by-state basis, this paves the way for follow-up legislation throughout the United States.
