Giant Lantern Offers a Spectacular Moon Walk for Mid-Autumn Festival
(firmenpresse) - TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 09/28/12 -- The Golden Moon Lantern will form the centre piece of the Hong Kong Tourism Board's Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations at Victoria Park from Thursday September 27 to Tuesday October 2, helping reinforce city's reputation as Asia's World City through its international inspiration and design.
It will be one of thousands of lanterns of all shapes and sizes that will magically light Hong Kong over the festival, the lantern being an integral part of the holiday and a must-have for children of all ages.
It was a chance encounter between some friendly locals in a bar which provided architects Kristof Crolla and Adam Fingrut with the inspiration for their winning design in the Hong Kong Tourism Board's lantern competition. As a relative newcomer to Hong Kong, Belgian Kristof Crolla is fascinated by the festival which he says has a Christmas-like atmosphere.
"I love it. It is very family-orientated but at the same time it is big social event," said Crolla. "It's not a festival you celebrate at home. Everyone is out, lighting up the streets with lanterns and enjoying the unique atmosphere and the beauty of the moon."
