L'Elisir d'Amore

Anna Netrebko and Matthew Polenzani star in Bartlett Sher's new production of one of the greatest comic gems in opera, as the fickle Adina and her besotted Nemorino. Mariusz Kwiecien is the blustery sergeant Belcore and Ambrogio Maestri is Dulcamara, the loveable quack and dispenser of the elixir. Maurizio Benini conducts.

Verdi's Shakespearean masterpiece returns to the Met with Johan Botha in the title role opposite the acclaimed Desdemona of star soprano, Renee Fleming. Semyon Bychkov conducts.

National Theatre Live: The Last of the Haussmans

When: Thursday, October 11, 2012 - 7:00 p.m. local time

Stephen Beresford's new play, The Last of the Haussmans, directed by Howard Davies, examines the fate of the 1960s revolutionary generation and offers a funny, touching and at times savage portrait of a family full of longing that's losing its grip. The cast includes Rory Kinnear, Matthew Marsh, Helen McCrory and Julie Walters.

Stratford Theatre: Caesar and Cleopatra

When: Thursday, October 18, 2012 - 7:00 p.m. local time

Shaw's legendary wit turns political drama into sparkling comedy when veteran strategist Julius Caesar becomes mentor to the enchanting teenage queen of Roman-occupied Egypt. Their first encounter under a desert moon will lead to a shift in the course of history, as Cleopatra gradually overcomes her timidity to become a determined player in the game of power politics. Christopher Plummer stars as Caesar, with Nikki James as Cleopatra.

See Boris Karloff on the big screen as the original Frankenstein (1931) followed by Bela Lugosi in Dracula (1931). Prior to the films, Turner Classic Movies host Robert Osborne will treat audiences to exclusive interviews recorded at this year's TCM Classic Film Festival. Joining him will be Karloff's daughter, Sara, along with Bela Lugosi, Jr., the son of the classic Dracula star, and Academy Award winning make-up artist, Rick Baker. All three will talk about classic horror movies and how legendary icons like Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi helped define the genre.

The Secret Garden

A young British girl born and raised in India loses her neglectful parents in an earthquake. She is returned to England to live at her uncle's castle. Her uncle is very distant following the loss of his wife ten years before. Neglected once again, she begins exploring the estate and discovers a garden that has been locked and neglected. Aided by one of the servants' boys, she begins restoring the garden, and eventually discovers some other secrets of the manor.

Space Jam

When: Saturday, October 13, 2012 - 11:00 a.m. local time

The Nerdlucks, a grouchy gang of tiny space creatures, have been dispatched by their boss, the ruthless, belligerent Swackhammer, to kidnap Bugs Bunny and his Looney Tunes cohorts and export them to Moron Mountain, Swackhammer's failing theme park on the Nerdluck's boring planet. Bugs challenges the small, weak aliens to a fateful basketball tournament: if the Looney Tunes win, they'll remain on Earth. But if the aliens win, Bugs and company are headed into the hands of Swackhammer.
