Minister Toews' Statement on 29th Arrest from "Wanted by the CBSA"

ID: 1154421

(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 09/25/12 -- The Honourable Vic Toews, Minister of Public Safety, issued the following statement today on the arrest of Durvent Dave Jack in the Greater Toronto Area, who is featured on the "Wanted by the CBSA" list.

"This individual is inadmissible to Canada pursuant to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, on grounds of serious criminality, for having been convicted in Canada of possessing a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

I commend the Canada Border Services officers in Kingston and Toronto, who worked with the RCMP's Toronto Immigration Task Force, for their vigilance and good work in helping keep our streets and communities safe from those who come to this country and commit crimes. Our government is sending a clear message to criminals that we will neither tolerate this type of activity, nor welcome this kind of individual into our society."

To date, Canadians have assisted in locating 29 individuals in Canada as a result of the "Wanted by the CBSA" program. The CBSA has removed 20 of these individuals from Canada. Additionally, five individuals were located abroad.
